Dear Parents:
In anticipation of our XC runners' participation in the Tempe NTN Regional, we are beginning the process of arranging lodging and transportation. As you know, this is not an Academy competition, nor is it paid by NTN, so it will be up to parents and runners to pay for the trip. Adam Kedge has asked us to help get this arranged for the 9 runners and their families.
Here’s the status of things at the current time. I have a block of 16 rooms reserved under my credit card at the Sheraton Phoenix Airport hotel in Tempe. It is one of two announced “event hotels” for the NTN Southwest Regionals. Rate is $89/night plus tax, a special low rate. The reserved nights are Friday, November 16 and Saturday, November 17. As I find out who will take how many rooms, we will assign those rooms to the persons actually using them.
We will use 4 rooms for our 9 runners, 1 or 2 rooms for coaches, and the additional 10 or 11 rooms for parents.
Transportation must be provided by parents. We need to know which parents are planning to go to Tempe, and by what mode of transportation. I am aware of several who will drive and will have additional seats and seatbelts. If you, your runner, or other families have made "car-pooling" arrangements, please let us know.
In addition to lodging and transportation, we are checking to see if there would be interest in a post-race group dinner in a Tempe area restaurant for Saturday evening.
As soon as possible, please let me know answers to the following questions:
- How many (and who) from your family are planning to go to Tempe?
- Not counting your runner, how many hotel rooms will you need at the Sheraton?
- Are you planning to drive or fly?
- If you are driving, are you willing to take additional persons with you?
- Have you made car-pooling arrangements with another runner or family?
- Would you and your family be interested in attending a no-host post-race dinner on Saturday?
Thanks for your response!

Hi David - thanks for coordinating.
I'm planning on taking the suburban and leaving noonish on Friday. I'm currently planning on Cindy, Sherri, Pat & Taylor - sounds like a full load.
I am currently planning on sharing a room with the 3 coaches.
Dinner sounds great on Sat evening, especially if there are cocktails and a Diamonds in the Rough Presentation.
